• Alcohol, green tea, caffeine, niacin, and spicy foods 3 days before treatment

• Stay well-hydrated: begin 72 hours before your appointment

• Men: ~14-16 cups of water per day

• Women: ~12-14 cups of fluids per day

• Avoid dehydrating factors: alcohol, caffeine, high salt/protein/fat diet, excessive exercise, vomiting/diarrhea, certain medications

• Take Vitamin C 2000 mg daily before your appointment to support healing

• Cold sore prophylaxis is recommended for patients with a history of herpes in or near the lip area

Timing

• Schedule your treatment at least 2–3 weeks before important events (weddings, photo shoots) to allow time for bruising or swelling to resolve

After Your Treatment – Post-Care

Immediately After

• Do not touch, press, rub, or manipulate treated areas for at least 8 hours

• Avoid lotions, creams, or makeup for 12 hours

• Avoid washing or showering the treated area for 6 hours

Pain & Bruising

• Acetaminophen/Tylenol is safe for discomfort

• If bruising occurs, apply warm moist compresses 3x/day until resolved

• Mild redness, swelling, itching, soreness, or bruising may last 3–14 days

Activity Restrictions

• Avoid vigorous exercise, sun, and heat exposure for at least 3 days

• Avoid blood thinners or NSAIDs for 2 weeks to reduce bruising and maintain treatment efficacy

Lifestyle Tips

• Maintain hydration and gentle skin care

• Smoking or vaping may reduce treatment efficacy—avoid if possible

PRF works by leveraging your body’s natural platelets, so hydration and avoiding blood thinners are essential.  If we are unable to draw your blood due to lack of hydration, you will be charged in full for your treatment.  Most side effects are mild and temporary; careful adherence to pre- and post-care ensures the best results and minimizes complications
